Some might say third time lucky but our wedding venue search came to an end when we visited the beautiful The Compleat Angler in Marlow Buckinghamshire. Nestled on the banks of the River Thames, this stunning venue stole our hearts as soon as we set eyes on it!
We both instantly felt at home as soon we walked through the doors for our appointment with Gabriela. With the mesmerising panoramic views of the Marlow Bridge, All Saints Church and the foaming Marlow Weir, we loved the quintessential feel of this beautiful riverside hotel. It’s true what they say, you just know when it’s ‘The One!’
As Gabriela showed us round the main function rooms, we loved how small and intimate the venue was. We always knew that we never wanted a huge wedding, so it was important for us to find a venue that was just right, that didn’t feel too big but at the same time not too small. The Compleat Angler ticked all of these boxes and allowed us to be flexible on how we wanted our wedding day to look.
The Compleat Angler also offered the perfect base for our guests to stay the night before/night of the wedding. From my previous posts you will have seen that this was really important to us as we have family travelling from Northern Ireland. As we are getting married in England I won’t be leaving from my parents house so I also wanted a venue where I’d be able to wake up, and have a relaxing morning getting ready.
Another thing that we both loved was the idea that we can revisit The Compleat Angler to celebrate anniversaries and to relive our special day whenever we want, something the previous venues could not offer!
To make our visit even more special, The Compleat Angler provided us with a complimentary champagne afternoon tea once we had finished our viewing. We both thought this was such a lovely touch and made the day that little more special. It allowed us to really take in the venue and experience the food and service.
Overall we absolutely fell in love with this beautiful riverside wedding venue and we can’t wait to make memories to last a lifetime when we get married here in 2025! Bring on the wedding!
